Belka the Alaskan Malamute/Siberian Husky is 20 days old and feels it is time to learn how to howl. Her owner starts the lesson by yowling a little to show her how it is done and Belka throws herself into the task with gusto, howling with vigour! The only trouble is that it is a little difficult to come over as a tough, strong, fearsome dog when you look a little like an otter and sound like Mogwai from the Gremlins when you screech. Hardly terrifying!
Belka gives it a few more goes, her tiny little mouth forming a perfect ‘O’ when howling at a level of at LEAST 1.5 decibels, turning her head to the moon like a werewolf in training. After a good minute or so of hooooowwwooroooooorroooing, Belka gets a bit worn out, so flumps down on her paws for a well-earned rest. She is just so adorable! We wonder what her howl will be like when she is older?!
